about

Tom has had a growing taste in hip hop, and I think we've all had a growing disdain for reggaeton as a genre in general, and I have no idea where Ulysses S. Grant, general-in-chief of the Union Army from 1864 to 1865 and 18th president of the United States, came in (hooray Wikipedia!).

This song is about the self destructive choices youth make, not through drugs, but more through complacency and creating negative images for themselves, and how all of this self destruction is caused by emulating the images that rap and rock stars try to sell us. Tom's vocals focus more on youth of the hip hop culture and how they emulate "artists" like 50 Cent and...other such mainstream hip hop artists (I haven't watched MTV in a long time). My vocals focus more on the pseudo punk/hot topic kids and how depressed and controlled they are within the context of their supposed rebellion. Rock n' roll fucking sucks.

There was a pretty audible vibraslap which got lost in the file conversion. These things make me sad.

lyrics

lyrics:

Today I heard the same damn song played over 6 times and I pray to God this stops. This mainstream life just grabs sprang arms grabs your heads just to make us all the same. It drives me insane. They make a million dollars and they just degrade. You set your race back 500 years with that bad boy attitude. What the fuck is wrong with you?

Is there something wrong with my TV or is everyone dressed the same? Every kid is bathed in frowns and every kid is bathed in black. Bondage strapped from front to back, a scar for everything that they lack. Rock and roll for the big bucks if this is rock and roll, then rock and roll it fucking sucks.

Cash. All you need to breath. Cash. The holy entity. Rock and roll is cheaper by the dozen. It’s all the same if you fucking listen.

You have the floor now so speak your mind. You relay how you felt about your happy high. Split like your lips fixed up with the collagen, reason for the crime? No apologizing when the they rates, they rocket off the charts. Teen pregnancy, teen murder, teen gangs, teen starvation. Artificial liberation: kids get your knives. Hold them to the sky and shoot down your life.

Is there something wrong with my TV or is everyone dressed the same? They create a zombie culture to boost monetary gain. iPods pump the poison they’ve monopolized teenage escape. Rock and roll is for big bucks- if this is rock and roll, then rock and roll it fucking sucks.

Cash. All you need to breath. Cash. The holy entity. Rock and roll is cheaper by the dozen. It’s all the same if you fucking listen. Remember when music was fun? A kid was thought of as someone. Now they want to control our minds and brand our heads with dollar signs. Hey capitalizing culture you better listen up. I don’t like being lied to. I don’t like being used. I fucking hate you.
