about
Tom was surfing YouTube one day, watching some video of Rancid presumably, and there was a comment on the video exclaiming, "Rancid is the best punk band since the Misfits besides NOFX." We thought it was funny and wanted to name a song that. God writing these out it makes realize how odd we are as a pair of song writers. This song is about punk kids who really get caught up by the whole aesthetic of rebellion but never apply any direction to it. It's about the kids who are infatuated the lyrics of bands like Anti-Flag and consider them truths to live by. It's about Tom and I circa 2002, hahaha. When I go to these shows now a days, it annoys me how these rawk stars of Anarchy command the kids, tell them how to dance, and indirectly tell them how to dress and feel about the world. It's always seemed like some crazy sect of punk rawk fascism to me. Oh yeah, descriptions, full circle. I rant. Um, so yeah, this song is about those kids, and how nothing will get done. And how for no good reason, they want to watch the world burn...save their leather jackets and various punk music compilations.
lyrics
lyrics:
Step inside a rioting stereo. You’ll have plenty of time to count the lies told by every single politician but you need to ignore your individual life. Welcome fans of Punk-O-Rama. Bring your spiked bracelets, bring your drama. You’re a young buck and you’ve been exposed. Get a new life, new friends, and new clothes.
Brought into this world pissed off-full of rage. Captive to our minds, we are all fucking enslaved. Found the angry side. Found this punk rock way of life. Right out of mommy’s nurture, we want a fucked up future.
Destruction to the preppy nation. Death to anything omitting patience. We want our future to be amazing. We want their ideals. I’m anarchy cravin’. So you want to start a commotion? Smash senators back into the ocean. Derail the corporate locomotion. Smash piano’s crying with emotion.
